Ways to become involved

Why Membership is Important

Advocacy or equity planning was conceived during the 1960s by Paul Davidoff to address social, economic and political issues in unrepresented and underrepresented social groups. The concept of advocacy planning is for citizens to take an active role in the decision making process of planning. The responsibility of an advocate is to express the values and objectives of a specific group, organization or community.

Your participation as a council member will provide you with the opportunity to express your concerns, get involved with the community, and exercise your democratic right as a citizen in the decision making process of future development in Avondale. As a member of the Avondale Community Council, you will be entitled to a monthly news letter, voting rights, and the rental of the community Pride Center at a discounted rate.

Avondale 200

The Avondale Community Council (ACC) is recognized by the City of Cincinnati Council as a voice for the community. As an advocate for the community, ACC will propose the social, economic and political concerns of Avondale residents to the City of Cincinnati Council. To influence the outcomes of various issues, such as housing, economic development, human services, and safety ACC needs the support of the community.

Avondale 200 consist of Avondale residents who show their support by coming out and supporting ACC at City Council meetings and press conferences when needed. Strength is shown in numbers and to continue making positive changes in Avondale we need to speak loudly.
